LinTO was on stage at VivaTech 2023 to provide real-time transcriptions of all the speakers!
As part of an exclusive technological partnership, the LinTO Open Source AI developed by LINAGORA provided an automatic and instantaneous transcription of all the speeches made on stage in the four conference rooms open to the general public on Saturday 17 June.
LinTO to the rescue of instant transcription.
Everyone remembers the instant subtitling system that facilitates accessibility, particularly during the French President's official speeches to the French people. Until now, this subtitling exercise has been carried out manually by several operators, with successive corrections and modifications. Thanks to LinTO's voice AI technology, this laborious and time-consuming task is now a thing of the past... Automatic, instant transcription and soon even translation are becoming a reality!
As Alexandre Zapolsky, Chairman of LINAGORA, points out:
« We're really proud that VivaTech, the world's biggest tech fair, has chosen us to transcribe its conferences for the general public. By choosing us, VivaTech has made the choice of FrenchTech (and even of French 'Good' Tech!), putting into practice what it stands for. We're also available to provide support to any event organisers who would like to set up such an automatic transcription solution using Open Source AI.»
LinTO: Open Source Voice AI
LinTO is an Open Source platform for conversational intelligence and voice technologies. LinTO's cognitive APIs (transcription & language analysis) are particularly effective in the context of exchanges involving a large number of participants.
The LinTO toolkit can also be used to power intelligent assistants by offering voice and natural language as an interface on any software platform.
LinTO is a complete Open Source alternative to Dialogflow, Google Assistant, Alexa, IBM Watson, Azure cognitive services, etc. LinTO technology makes it possible to add the use of voice and natural language to all digital professions.
LinTO offers a level of performance and an operating cost unprecedented in the voice technology market, the use of other Open Source models, respect for users' privacy and compliance with RGPD rules.
As LinTO is 100% hosted in France or directly on the Customer's infrastructure, it is 100% "GAFAM Free" and avoids the application of extra-territorial US law to ensure absolute data sovereignty.
« LinTO is a great illustration of the value of voice AI technologies for conference and event organisers on a European and global scale. » Nicolas Douchement - Chief Experience Officer - VIVA TECHNOLOGY
As Nicolas Douchement, Chief Experience Officer at VIVA TECHNOLOGY, explains:
« At the record-breaking 2023 edition of VivaTech, as part of a technological partnership with LINAGORA, the French Open Source pioneer, all the conferences held on Saturday 17 June, which were open to the general public, were broadcast live, automatically and instantaneously using LinTO technology. There were 4 simultaneous rooms throughout the day, with 47 conferences, 112 speakers and over 31 hours of content.
As Europe's leading innovation platform, it is natural for VivaTech to be a pioneer in the use of such technologies and innovations. LinTO is a great illustration of the value of voice AI technologies for conference and event organisers on a European and global scale.
The traditional method - for an equivalent result - would have required the mobilisation of 8 dedicated operators... it's easy to see the economic impact.
We were also supported throughout by LINAGORA's LinTO technical department. From enrichment of the AI model to on-site implementation, everything was carried out in an extremely fluid and responsive manner: AI in simple, high-impact mode! A big THANK YOU to the teams!»
LinTO provides a "seamless" voice AI experience for technical control rooms
For Damien Lainé, Head of R&D Engineering at LINAGORA, the collaboration with Viva Technology is a natural step in a series of relatively simple use cases with immediate impact made possible by LinTO, Open Source voice AI:
« The key to success here lies essentially in a dedicated learning sequence involving the registration of several tens of thousands of new business terms or specific proper names. We also aim to make it as easy as possible for technical departments to get to grips with the system and to use it independently. At Viva Tech, for example, LinTO's technology was made available via a simple, fully pre-configured URL, all of which works entirely via APIs. »
Typically, for each intervention, LinTO enriches the associated AI model, whose adaptation corpus is made up of 16 million words, extracted from the news and technical and business documents. On average, 53,000 new words are added to the model each time. The results are nothing short of astonishing: the spoken word is displayed in less than 0.2s (real time), with retroactive correction of context 'errors' for each group of three words, and a final error rate of less than 1%, most often linked to conjugation.
Choosing our AI technologies today means perpetuating our choices of civilisation for tomorrow.
France's future is also shaped by lines of code and algorithms. Faced with the domination of the American and Chinese giants in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Europe, and France in particular, have a crucial card to play.
It's time for France to take the lead and develop a trusted AI system, to strengthen its digital sovereignty and support its national players. It is essential to understand that AI is much more than just a technological tool. It is the engine of innovation, a driving force behind the economy of the future. It is a strategic resource that requires national control to guarantee our independence. A sovereign AI is essential to ensure its acceptability and thus become a powerful lever for stimulating our economy, creating quality jobs and supporting strategic industries.
Short of guaranteeing a fully sovereign (self-sufficient) value chain, the major challenge is to secure a "chain or network of trust" to achieve a degree of strategic autonomy deemed satisfactory. This infrastructure of trust must lower the barriers to entry by pooling development efforts via Open Source digital commons governed by a multitude of InfraTech players.
What's more, by adopting an Open Source approach, we would be promoting open innovation and transparency, the fundamental values of the 3rd Digital Way that is responsible, sustainable, ethical and respectful of European values.
