For this first issue, we went to meet Sarah Daninthe, world champion and Olympic medallist in Athens in 2004.
France has just come off the back of a completely crazy Olympic sequence, which saw the whole planet marvel at the exploits of Olympic (and Paralympic) athletes, demonstrating to the whole world that when you decide and give yourself the means, the impossible becomes possible.
‘I've always dreamed of taking part in the Olympics, but I always thought it was out of my reach [...] I was also confronted with the limiting projections of people who didn't take me seriously [...] At first it affected me a lot, but then I freed myself from all that [...] And I made the choice to believe in that dream [...] And at 16, I decided to become an Olympic champion’.
‘Emancipation and freedom are first and foremost things that you decide’.
Of course, the same applies to the issues of technological independence and digital sovereignty within organisations, whether private or public, which are currently being debated at the highest levels of national and European government: emancipating oneself from Big Tech platforms or the dictates of a proprietary solution provider is something that has to be decided.
