Back to Viva Technology 2024

A look back at the speech given by our Chairman Alexandre ZAPOLSKY on the 1st day of VivaTech at a round table organised by our partner  CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) on the promotion and impact of open source software.

Here are a few highlights from the discussions, as if you were there:

" Software production in higher education and research is extremely dynamic in all scientific communities. "

" Open source research software has a significant impact on society. It brings together vast communities of developers and users from the French and international academic world, as well as from the private sector and the general public. "

" The influence of software stems from the synergy between public research and private players."

" We also need digital biodiversity when it comes to AI: what is at stake here is nothing less than the preservation of languages and cultures in Europe."

" A truly Open Source AI is one in which (1) the code is open, (2) the learning model is open and (3) the dataset is open. This is what the OpenLLM-France and OpenLLM-Europe communities are doing. "

" Yes, a 3rd digital way is possible in France and Europe: we can succeed in MAKING Tech open, ethical, transparent and responsible. "

" Collaboration between the public and private sectors in the field of free software strengthens innovation."
