LUCIE, the 100% opensource LLM developed with the OpenLLM France community and based on transparent data, has sparked a lively debate in recent days. Between criticism and enthusiasm, one thing is certain: French AI is in the process of being built, with its challenges and ambitions!

In this interview, Matthias De Bièvre talks about the launch and importance of LUCIE:

• ‘The stakes go far beyond the simple performance of a conversational robot. Lucie embodies a strategic ambition: that of a sovereign AI, aligned with European values and independent of foreign infrastructures’ ; 
   
• ‘If we want an AI that is sovereign and beneficial to our society, the entire ecosystem must be mobilised. We cannot expect everything from the project initiators: an open approach requires the active contribution of everyone’; 
   
• ‘For our part, we have decided to integrate Lucie and test its technology in our data space projects. Let's not forget that Lucie AI is still in its infancy. Artificial intelligence is a marathon, not a sprint’;

We would like to thank all those who are supporting us and taking an active part in this collective project. The French tech industry needs this mobilisation to continue to innovate and offer sovereign alternatives.
