"Artificial intelligence should be a digital public good."
That's the line we chose to open this clip. It's also the clearest summary of why Oleg Lavrovsky does what he does.
Oleg leads the technical community around Apertus, Switzerland's large language model project, built by the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre in Lugano.
Released last September, Apertus is already one of the most open LLM projects in the world. Not open-ish. Open.
What struck us most was the intent behind it :
"We are building Apertus not just for Switzerland, but for the world."
A small country, a massive investment, and a simple bet: that the work put into building something truly open saves everyone else from having to start from zero.
That's the whole point of open source, really. And it's exactly why we do POSAIS !
