Open Source for the global common good: LINAGORA at the UN for ethical and sovereign technology

Let’s take a look back at this year’s Open Source Week 2025 conference

This year, the UN Open Source Week took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York an international gathering dedicated to facilitating global dialogue and collaboration on open source, digital public infrastructure (DPI), and the development of innovative solutions to global challenges.

Our founder, Alexandre ZAPOLSKY, was here to represent LINAGORA.
Over 1,000 participants including public institutions, researchers, companies, and NGOs united around a shared ambition:

  • to use open source as a tool for global cooperation,
  • to build the foundation for ethical, transparent AI,
  • and to contribute meaningfully to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

But why does LINAGORA take part in this?

Because we believe free and open technologies must be designed for people for public services, for local communities, for citizens.
Because we bring to the table our expertise in interoperability, digital sovereignty, and open source Artificial Intelligence models.

And above all, because we are committed to creating standards, tools, and alliances to ensure that innovation serves the public interest, rather than being monopolized by a handful of tech giants.

These global conversations matter to all of us. Because the decisions made today will shape the way our schools, governments, hospitals and ultimately our lives are powered tomorrow.

Thanks to the vision and dedication of Omar MOHSINE and his team, this is a precious opportunity for everyone involved to shape a more positive future.
