LUCIE, the 100% open source LLM developed with the OpenLLM France community, with transparent databases, was made available to the general public on Thursday 23 January. What followed on Saturday 25 January was an outpouring of criticism and controversy. But there was also a massive outpouring of support from those in the tech community who know what the development and deployment of AI technology represents.

The media also report on these exchanges, and each time LINAGORA has the opportunity to explain the history, the challenges and, above all, the future of LUCIE.t surtout le futur de LUCIE.

• The model is intended to be used for applications in the world of education and research, but ‘to date, no specific work has been carried out with the French Ministry of Education to customise or adapt the model for educational use’, its promoters have also stressed;
   
• This [...] start-up does not prevent Lucie's promoters from hoping to put the conversational robot back online soon, after having developed it further, to offer everyone ‘a model of language of general interest’;
   
• Unlike tech giants such as ChatGPT, Lucie [...] promises transparency on the data used to train it. This will ensure, for example, that answers are based on verified scientific data;
