Last Wednesday, during the breakfast organized by Origine France Garantie to launch the “Numérique France Garanti” label, we handed the microphone to the person who embodies this movement: Gilles Attaf.
His words perfectly capture the ambition we share:
"Sovereignty is the freedom to make one’s own choices and not be dependent on foreign countries"
Freedom, that is the heart of the matter. For a long time we have talked about digital technology as merely a tool. But when our data, our infrastructures, and our daily practices depend on non‑European actors, the issue is no longer merely technical. It threatens our independence and our capacity to decide.
At LINAGORA, we have been saying this for more than 25 years (and yes, we will continue to say it): open source and digital sovereignty are not fleeting trends. They are strategic choices and, today, fully political ones.
Creating digital commons, fostering strong French and European players, and returning decision‑making power to those who use these technologies… these are our values. They are also the values behind this new label, which establishes a clear framework. It is now up to us to turn it into a dynamic force.
Because this fight cannot be won alone.
