Big announcement: the first Open Buro Hackathon is happening on April 9 -10 !
There is no shortage of alternatives to M365. We know that well. What’s still missing is something bigger: a platform.
Today, the ecosystem is rich but fragmented. Each solution solves part of the problem, yet the overall experience remains incomplete. The real challenge now is clear: can we collectively orchestrate these tools into a seamless, “smart platform experience” that truly serves users? This is exactly what Open Buro is about !
On April 9 - 10, we’re gathering at Villa Good Tech for two days of hands-on work to tackle a concrete piece of that puzzle: the Workplace File Picker, a key building block to enable smooth, secure, and standardized interactions between workplace tools and document services.
The objective is simple: build a working prototype in two days.
To get there, we’ll rely on existing approaches (XDG Desktop Portal, Android intents, Google Drive File Picker API…) and focus on what actually works.
This initiative is carried by an alliance of committed actors: LINAGORA (Benjamin André, Michel-Marie MAUDET), Direction interministérielle du numérique (DINUM) (Samuel Paccoud), LaSuite.coop, mosa.cloud, eXo Platform and Jalios, working together to move from fragmented tools to a coherent ecosystem.
