When Radio Interviews AI. Setting Sail for World Radio Day 2026 (UNESCO)
Radio is one of the few media where the voice remains central, and at a time when artificial intelligence is taking hold in every sector, a question arises almost naturally:
What real role should AI play in a medium founded on humanity, ethics, and the relationship with listeners?
This is precisely the theme of World Radio Day 2026, organized on 13 February under the auspices of UNESCO. On the event’s website, a clear message reads: “AI is a tool, not a voice.” It is a vision we fully share at LINAGORA: Artificial Intelligence is not meant to replace human speech, and it should not. However, it can accompany and strengthen it.
In this spirit we will be partners of World Radio Day 2026, providing LinTO, our open‑source voice‑tech software, to ensure live transcription and translation of the exchanges. The day before, we will also support the MAINconf - AI × Radio Europe event, organized by Nicolas Moulard.
Reminder: LinTO offers
- Audio and video transcription (batch or real‑time)
- Automatic, synchronized subtitle generation
- Live multilingual translation
- Speaker diarisation (identifying who is speaking)
- Collaborative editing and sharing
- Native integration with Twake.ai,
etc...
Beyond the technology, we champion a particular vision of AI:
- an AI that serves the media,
- respects user practices,
- and aligns with European digital‑sovereignty goals.
