When Radio Questions AI: Spotlight on World Radio Day 2026 (UNESCO)
Radio is one of the few media where the human voice remains central. As artificial intelligence becomes ubiquitous across all sectors, a question arises almost naturally:
What role should AI truly play in a medium built on human connection, ethics, and listener relationships?
This is the very theme of World Radio Day 2026, organized on February 13 under the auspices of UNESCO. The event’s website delivers a clear message: “AI is a tool, not a voice.” A vision we at LINAGORA fully endorse: Artificial Intelligence is not meant to replace the human voice, and it must not. However, it can support and amplify it.
In this spirit, we are proud to be a partner of World Radio Day 2026, providing LinTO, our open-source voice technology software, to enable live transcription and translation of discussions. The day before, we will also support the MAINconf / AI × Radio Europe event, organized by Nicolas Moulard.
As a reminder, LinTO offers:
- Audio and video transcription (batch or real-time),
- Automated and synchronized subtitling,
- Live multilingual translation,
- Speaker diarization,
- Collaborative editing and sharing,
- Native integration with Twake.ai,
and more.
But beyond the technology, we advocate for a specific vision of AI:
- An AI at the service of media,
- Respectful of user needs,
- And aligned with European digital sovereignty challenges.
