Accelerating digital transformation: a look back at the Mediterranean AI Forum in Tunis

These past few days, we were in Tunis!
We are often asked why we travel so much, both in France and abroad.

The answer is simple: when you want to make another voice in digital heard, you have to go where decisions are made… but also where ideas are born.

The FMIA (Mediterranean Forum on Artificial Intelligence) is a perfect example. Organized by the Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies and the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, it brought together more than 600 participants from both shores: researchers, institutions, start‑ups, investors, public and private actors.

We were there with our Chief Executive Officer Michel‑Marie MAUDET and our collaborator PhD. Sarah ZRIBI LAKHOUA, not to “present” anything… but to exchange, debate, confront visions. Because it is not enough to be convinced: you must also convince, and especially build together with others.

Our CEO spoke on two major topics:

  1. E‑government & public services panel – how to accelerate digital transformation
  2. Open‑Source workshop – pooling resources to reduce inequalities

For us it is certain that Artificial Intelligence will have a real impact only if those who use it can also understand it, modify it… and master it. Otherwise, it will never be a tool, but a dependency.

We also met the Tunisian Minister of Digital Affairs Sofiene HEMISSI. Because YES: digital sovereignty is not proclaimed. It is built together with states, citizens, and civil society.
Thanks to the organizers and to everyone who took the time to discuss with us.

And especially: THANK YOU to those who ask the right questions. That’s how everything begins.
