We discussed the "third digital way" in La Jaune et la Rouge, the journal of École Polytechnique.
A relationship between a leading academic institution and a company committed to open source doesn’t happen by decree. It is built over time, across multiple dimensions.
So when a prestigious school like École Polytechnique opens its pages, it is never trivial. And when a company like LINAGORA is invited to contribute to an in-depth feature on digital sovereignty, the question isn’t about "promoting ourselves" but: what do we do with this space?
Instead of another advertorial, our president, Alexandre Zapolsky, made a different choice: to use this precious reading time to ask the real questions.
A numerical reality, often overlooked:
According to the Asterès study for Cigref, France and Europe collectively spend €264 billion per year on American software and cloud services. €264 billion. Every year. A figure that raises questions, especially when European players can deliver just as well… and sometimes even better.
It’s also an opportunity to explain why we developed TwakeAI:
Our artificial intelligence platform dedicated to communication and collaboration, designed to address the organizational and productivity challenges faced by major public institutions and businesses today—while avoiding U.S. extraterritorial laws. We wanted to create a deployable, sovereign, open-source alternative.
And then there’s that central word: COURAGE.
Courage as both a lever and a necessary condition for changing the game. Because standing still in the face of the current situation means accepting the status of a digital colony. Moving forward, collectively, means embracing the ambition of a self-reliant continent—one capable of building its own strategic autonomy, in the digital realm and far beyond mere technological sovereignty.
This message is pragmatic, yet resolutely positive. We cannot afford to give up, not at this moment in history, when geopolitical stakes make digital sovereignty more crucial than ever to the future of our autonomy!

And the debate? It’s only just beginning.
So, where do you stand between comfort, dependence… and courage? What levers do you propose?
