This first day at VivaTech is coming to an end, and we leave with far more than a few souvenir photos.
At the Digital Sovereignty Village, many of you came to meet our teams, discover our solutions, share your projects and discuss topics that we are passionate about: digital sovereignty, artificial intelligence and Open Source.
This day was also marked by the speeches of our President Alexandre Zapolsky and our CEO Michel‑Marie MAUDET. Two complementary interventions, driven by the same conviction: alternatives already exist, and it is time to give them their full place.
On the NVIDIA stage, Michel‑Marie MAUDET revisited the path taken by OpenLLM and, more broadly, by the open‑AI ecosystem:
« In 2023 we had this crazy idea of building truly open‑source AI models, not just models with open weights but models trained on open datasets. Today that idea is becoming reality.»
What still seemed unrealistic a few years ago has now become a strategic priority for some of the world’s largest AI players.
At LINAGORA we are convinced that Europe does not need to replicate the race for ever larger foundation models.
« Our goal is not to build gigantic models, but smaller models dedicated to specific use‑cases, aligned with our values and our languages.»
This vision is already an operational reality. By combining specialized models, RAG systems and intelligent agents, we help bring AI closer to organisational data, even in sensitive environments and critical infrastructures.
As Michel‑Marie reminded the audience:
« Restricted access to technology or models is no longer science‑fiction. It is our real life. »
It is precisely to meet this challenge that initiatives such as OpenLLM France, supported by a ecosystem of researchers, industry players and partners such as NVIDIA, are today more important than ever.
Because the future of AI will not be decided solely by model size, but also by our ability to build open, sovereign technologies that are suited to our needs and respectful of our choices.
